After initially being very skeptical about trying the Keraplex strengthening complex I decided that a good time to put it to the test would in the heat of summer weather. I applied the keratin treatment on a Thursday night just before I would be attending an outdoor 3 day weekend event. My hair will need to look it’s best at least Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If I get through the weekend with my hair cooperating then I will consider this treatment to have been successful on the very lowest level.
As I mentioned in Part 1 of this review I really liked the initial results immediately after I was done but then the question is after all the time and effort I spent ” will my hair stay straight and smooth?”
I’m happy to say that throughout the weekend with temperatures in the high 70’s to low 80’s during the weekend my hair was looking fabulous the whole time. I got lots of compliments.
I will say that because my hair after the treatment seemed to be so light and weightless that it felt like my hair was not going to hold it’s style. Instead of wearing it stick straight I wanted to wear a style with loose, wavy curls. I anticipated my hair reacting to the humidity so I layered on a good amount of humidity resistant styling products. I used Kiehl’s smoothing blow dry cream to a few sections at the nape of my neck and around my hairline and then used a boar bristle round brush and blow dryer to re-straighten only those specific sections. If and when I perspire the nape of my neck and my hairline are the easiest to curl up and start to revert at the first sign of moisture. After I finished styling I smoothed polishing serum throughout and then finished with Elle Net holding hairspray to lock in my waves.
Since my hairdo survived the whole weekend I decided maybe I see how long I’ll go before I shampoo and going back to my wash and go curly ‘fro.
Phase 2 is successful. My hair stayed straight and smooth for an entire week, even with me doing my exercise workouts and being out in the hot and humid summer weather in the Northeast.
I’m really getting to be more and more impressed with the Keraplex foritfy, but the story isn’t finished just yet. My hair is so soft, straight and smooth that I’m actually very nervous about whether or not my curls will bounce back without and problems.
Look out for the final verdict and my before and after photos in Part 3 …after the first shampoo….
