The segment I taped the other day for the Dr.Oz Show airs today, Wednesday January 23,2013. I’m part of a segment about dreams and weight loss. Myself and another guest named Veronica have both been recruited by producers from the Dr. Oz show to be a part of this segment. Our associate producer, Carly called us the “Dream Girls”.
At first, I was very skeptical about how in the world my dreams could have anything to do with weight loss but I was at least curious to see what the connection could be. I really am desperate to get down to my goal weight, get fit and have more energy. And since I’ve tried just about every other crazy, wacky or extreme diet or method to drop the extra pounds I thought, I might as well give it a chance.
In preparation for the actual show I was given “homework” the week before. I had to begin keeping a dream journal. I panic a little when I start thinking ” What exactly did I get myself into? ” I decide to just go with it.
Since I’ve arrived about 2 hours ahead of time before the actual taping of the show will begin, I am taken to wait in the green room. I’m not alone there are other guests there for various other segments. All of us are equal parts excited and nervous. After introducing ourselves we ask about each other’s reasons for being on the show as we pass the time.
Various staff from the show periodically come in to check on us. The stylist comes to check our wardrobe, we get sent over to hair and makeup, an intern comes in to have us sign paperwork. The top questions on mostly everyone’s mind are ” What to say? Will I be on stage? Should I hug Dr. Oz or shake his hand? ” Soon enough a producer comes to prep us individually for the show which further helps calm down the nervousness.
Now it’s time for the show to begin taping and we are collected from our green room and led to over to the actual studio. Just before entering the studio and taking our places, and we get wired under our clothing with a mini-microphone, so we can speak hands free on set….Mike check…Testing 1,2,3.
I Had A Dream ….And Then I Told It To Dr. Oz
Now, I’m starting to get nervous. We enter the studio and are seated strategically in marked seats on the front row. I keeping checking my notes on the blue card that the producer jotted down for me. There’s a stand up comedian that warms up the audience so we will be an excited and lively audience. Next the stage manager comes over to Veronica and I to make sure he has our names correct for Dr. Oz. Moments later Dr. Oz is arriving and on cue we stand and cheer him on as he enters the studio. He comes right by our row , shakes our hands and welcomes us to the show. Wow, Dr. Oz is really way more handsome in person. He’s a suave guy.
It was kind of of cool, when Dr. Oz called my name like he knew me. Anyway, if you tune in to see the show, my segment is literally just a few moments but it’s pretty funny. All in all, it was a great experience being a guest on the Dr. Oz show.
